Well over a year ago, I wrote a post eviscerating Cord Ivanyi, Latin instructor at the Gilbert Classical Academy in Gilbert, Arizona, for the curriculum of “etiquette” he enforces on his male students. With ironclad arguments and scorn, I wrote that Ivanyi’s policy of having boys pull out chairs for their girl classmates and standing when they entered the room was not only misandrist and stunting their sexual maturity, it was swelling the girls’ heads and turning them into narcissistic, entitled be-yotches. The point – chivalry is dead for a reason and trying to bring it back without addressing womens’ misbehavior is an exercise in folly. And some of you may remember that just a year ago, I caught Ivanyi sockpuppeting on my original post and exposed him for the IMF audience to throw tomatoes at.
Well, this story just keeps rolling on. Word must have gotten out at Gilbert, because Ivanyi’s students have been hating on me on both articles over the past couple of days. Some choice cuts, first from Jonathan Dowell:

My question is why it was automatically assumed that this was somehow the boys’ fault? Have you considered that perhaps the girls were being treated like shit because they DESERVE to be treated like shit? Perhaps the girls were treating the BOYS poorly and the boys were just responding in kind? Have you also considered that women need to be told to respect men as much as the reverse, or that chivalry is not a one-way street? If men are going to be chivalrous towards women, women need to be deferential to men.

I cannot believe the comments posted on this blog. Mr. Ivanyi is one of the most inspiring teachers I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. He worked to instill into each of his students chivalrous behaviors that will help them to be successful in their lives. These students were not “forced” into these behaviors, but were simply asked to act politely towards the girls in their classroom. As part of a latin curriculum, it was completely relevant to take these young men back to a time period where everyone respected each other. Chivalry is dying because of people like all of you who sit here and mock any attempts at bringing it back. You are childish. Women today still like to have the door held for them and they still like men to be polite. It’s not about one group being better than the other, its about being polite. I particularly liked the comment about the school treating the girls poorly. What does that even mean actually? That boys didn’t hold doors for the girls? I thought feminists fought against such behaviour. Is it even possible to have a school in the western world that has the slightest negative attitude towards females? I like the idea of less abuse for girls in education. My priority is criticism of the Muslim world, where girls that want to go to school have acid thrown in their faces and are set on fire. I will say this, with full honesty, the comments were my idea and mine alone. Cord had no idea that I was doing this. I stumbled upon your previous articles and wrote a comment while telling some of my peers to do the same.
If you all do not believe in the practice of Chivalry, then that is your right and I will not attempt to change your mind in that regard. However, I take issue with the personal attacks against Cord. Whether or not you agree with his mode of teaching, he really is a wonderful man. Many of us would not be able to have succeeded at the level that we have if we did not have him guide us.
To be honest, the males of the school were being truly horrible to women. I know this because I myself partook in it. There were many cases where I, along with many of my male peers, would sexually harass the women. This was not because “they were asking for it” but, rather, because we felt like we could. This sexual harassment ranged from groping to verbal abuse and a vast array of other problems. We viewed them as being less than human because they were different than us. This was not just a problem within my group, but was a school-wide problem as well.
I am really glad that I am not this way anymore.
In all, we defend our teacher because he is a very loving man who has cared for us for all of these years. It is true that he has made mistakes but no one is perfect. The hurtful names that he was called were truly unwarranted and although I cannot speak for my peers, that is where my problem lies. I thank Mr. Ivanyi for all he has taught me over the years and I will continue to support him because he is a great friend.

I too was a student of Cord Ivanyi, and I can tell you from experience that he is a homophile. He made passes at me several times. Granted, most of their writing didn’t really address your points say “but I really loved his class! and you suck you evil-terrible-misogynistic-poophead man!” But some of what said is worth addressing along with the first guy in this example where you gave a serious rebuttal: that Ivanyi also taught the girls to appreciate the chivalry rather than let it go to their heads and he actually have a girl. Of course, I doubt we really know how the girls turned out the quantity of girls he had nor quality including the current girl.
Speaking of knowing how it turns out, it really all come down to how well their lives turned out since his class. Did the guys lived a life of mediocrity whipped by the women around him in quiet suffering or are their having a better quality life because-or-in-spite-of-chivary? Did the girls grow up to be egocentric bitches riding the carousel or something more level headed and able to stick to a single good boyfriend?
The mockery Facebook digging – is I have to say – isn’t helping as it looks the same tactics as some blogger from Jezebel or Feministing. Mocking their relationship status, their taste, or saying they’re butthurt doesn’t really reveal if they are thriving or languishing or even they really still following his teachings rather than they just appreciate the teacher’s efforts and character so they don’t liking your attack because of that.
That said, I must note the Facebook does seem to point to some evidence to your support (I have a few “theories” from my experiences based on they number of friends they have, though it would be too much of a tangent to explain it now). The guys seems to point some evidence they they might be exemplars of an awesome life – with exception of Samer who it looks like he have a good crowd of friends and likely have some success with girls. However from Sara, from that picture, it doesn’t look like she’ll end up with cats. Interestingly, based from my experience of the personalities of girls versus the number of Facebook friends, she’s probably down-to-earth though likely very quirky in the some kind of geeky sense. Still, I very much doubt she’s been riding the carousel or whipping her boyfriend around.
Obviously, this is all still just speculation – borderline absurd speculation. Still, I’m curious of how well they are doing taking his teachings versus the members here taking the teachings here.

This is a public school, and while a lot of money goes into schooling, it’s similar everywhere. The fact that different teachers try to reinforce classroom ethics just goes to show there are varied opinions on the matter.

Despite the fact he was teaching anachronisms in modern America, the modern American believes in “equality”, OR just is a good way of saying we don’t know the difference between people. Everyone’s obviously different; what happened to individuality? I’ll agree that it is more practical to hire for skill-sets than genitalia, but in physical labor there tends to be a strong correlation. This isn’t always practical, but it’s nice for students to be aware of the culture around them, especially when the culture of a (uniform-only, public) school-setting in general is an anachronism in the real world.

Yes, I was appaled at first by what you were saying, but I tried to keep an open mind and think of it from your perspective. I have no opinion on whether Cord Ivanyi was in the right to enforce a common-courtesy lesson for his students. And I understand that responding with personal attacks to your opposing side will create hype for your articles. I can support your strive to become popular and rich, but I can’t rationalize why it made sense to dedicate the original article about an insignificant teacher barely affecting anything beyond a school bounds. I would imagine that an article on a teacher punching every kid as they enter the room would have more reason to argue about, than someone who teaches boys to “better” themselves in morals and ethics. But what do I know, I never was good at philosophy.
Most of the commenters so far had Ivanyi years ago and may not recollect everything correctly. I had Ivanyi last year and loved his class. I feel as if the original article didn’t portray what was actually happening in the classroom correctly. The classroom was not a place of Ivanyi pushing it into the guys to be chivalrous and nice to all females. It was a place where Ivanyi wanted everyone to be curious and kind to one another, in fact, at some points, the girls would do the same for the guys. Ivanyi wanted everyone in the class to be prepared for things in life, along with his Latin program. Including being caring to everyone, and he made sure we knew proper procedures for a date. Overall, in the classroom it was an equal place for everyone and there was no force or any real push for the chivalrous behavior.

Gilbert Classical Academy is not a private school, and so does not require “thousands of dollars in tuition a year”. Therefore, it is not exactly full of “butthurt rich snots”. It’s open to the public and costs no more than a regular public school.
Also, I do not see why you are targeting Mr. Ivanyi personally. The boys in the class were not forced to do anything, only encouraged to. And are you so offended by that that you have to spread vicious rumors about him? You don’t even know the man, so what gives you the right to criticize his actions? He has helped numerous students in the past and was/is only trying to be a good person.

I am not screwed for life because 1) I was in his class before he started teaching chivalry and 2) I am intelligent enough to see where he is wrong, and I dont agree with his philosophy. Are some people posting on here brainwashed? Of course. But plenty of people only had his class for a short time (I had one class with him three years ago), so he didnt have time to brainwash them. People like me just remember something kind he has done for them. I know for me personally, he saw my potential and allowed me one extra opportunity to pass his class (I was sitting at a 56%) so I wouldnt be kicked out of our school. This made all the difference for me, because eventually I buckled down and commited myself to learning. If it wasnt for the one opportunity he provided me out of kindness I would not be where I am today, and I would very likely be worse off and have less options in life. I am proud of who I’ve been able to become, but I never would have gotten here without the opportunities and learning expieriences I had at my school. I can literlly attribute my current situation, and my entire future, to a simple act of kindness by Cord Ivanyi.

I understand that the situation a student would be undergoing would involve much more than one bad teacher. The school (I think until recently) lacked a counselor and is generally a very stressful place. The teachers formed a sort of reciprocal barrier for students to feel emotionally committed. I think there was a bigger underlying issue troubling the school and yet some stupid event gets media coverage for no good reason and introducing unneeded stress.
I see it as unjust for the people involved as they get remembered for somethings that made up .1% of their lives.

I always open doors for women and give up my seat on the bus for them. Actually, TFH, I have never claimed that there are any great MRM victories – in fact, I have often elaborated at length as to why there are no great MRM victories. The only thing I have really opposed you on about them is when you claim that the MRM doesn’t even exist. It certainly does, albeit ineffectively. And my reference to your claims were in regard to a comment thread at the Spearhead a while back where people were claiming that men’s issues were increasing in regularity on MSM websites and such… and then you piped in and tried to claim that this was in part because of your Urinal Campaign. I am merely pointing out that on this thread, you are claiming that the MRM is a complete and utter disaster, and on other threads, you point out that increased awareness of Men’s Issues is due, in part, to your urinal campaign. I think that is called having your cake and eating it too. You are doing it again in this last comment as well. At first there were no victories, but no you are claiming your campaign is successful. (One wonders then, what sets it apart from all the other URL at Urinal Campaigns that have happened over the past decades?)
As for Paul Elam, who cares? I quite disagree with Paul Elam – and according to your stated politics, so should you, and so should everyone who believes in the original MGTOW philosophy, which was to instill masculinity in men, restore femininity in women and work for limited government. Elam attacked Jack Donovan, openly in blog post, because Donovan questioned the validity of Male Studies headed up by Warren Farrell. Elam also openly threatened to undermine anyone who was opposed to Male Studies. Well, I am very opposed to a Male Studies headed up by Warren Farrell. For five or six years now, I have been writing about the dangers of getting what we say we want – and “Male Studies” is the culmination of this. First off, they want government and NGO styled funding, or in other words, they will start up a “studies” department that will become big-government’s little bitch boy – just like Feminism. Second of all, while Warren Farrell gets quite a few things right in his evaluations, his ultimate solution is for more androgyny – in other words, more feminism, but from a male point of view. Paul Elam, as well as Farrell, states he wants to end gender roles. You, TFH, as well as any original MGTOW’rs, ought to be opposed to this. If you believe in game, as well as instilling masculinity in men and restoring femininity in women as per MGTOW, then one ought to be restoring gender roles rather than further tearing them down.
Warren Farrell has worried me for a long time now because of these views, and his willing affiliation with government. And, if the MRM gets its wish and becomes a greater force in society, I can foresee great danger in people like him, because Farrell, along with his colleagues like Strauss, always seem to think the answer is more equality and more government intrusion into personal life. And, of course, as the most famous of MRA’s, they are “naturals” for becoming spokespersons for “the cause” after everyone else has done the groundwork for raising awareness about the issues. There is great danger in that. Strauss, for example, at the end of his studies showing female violence that is equal to male violence, recommends more funding and more intrusions into our lives.
If MRM “victories” are more androgyny and bigger government and further intrusion into our personal lives, then I hope the MRM stays ineffective for a long time to come, and I won’t touch it with a barge pole.
Btw, TFH, for us MGTOW, five or six years ago our only goal was to free up men’s voice from political correctness, and encourage men to speak out. That is why we started up our own blogs.
We started at, what one would call, the first step.
Compared to when I started years ago, when there were less than 15 regularly updated sites criticizing feminism, to today, where there are hundreds of sites as well as hundreds of comments on every anti-male MSM article. I would say that what us ragtag bloggers set out to do five years ago was a great success, as all we wanted to do was free up men’s voices and see what happened.
I actually do consider that a victory, TFH – and the only one I’ve seen so far – that people like you actually have a place to speak, while only five years ago, the only place you could speak was on a private MRM forum.
What you tend to do is define success in your own terms, without even examining history and “where we came from.”
Btw, as far as I know, the Spearhead readership hasn’t “skyrocketed” as you claimed it would – if anything, it has dropped, since it’s real philosophers have exited the scene. It seems a lot more like the SYG forum, whining about their lack of equal rights, than it did in it’s earlier form when it had some teeth.
But still, I’m sure that Welmer should be able to provide some reliable results to the effectiveness of your campaign. You know – a percentage of how many more hits he has gotten, and whether he attributes it to google or you. That’s not to say you might not have gotten 500 to 700 people to actually look up the Spearhead – and good for you! But it won’t change the world, my little brown friend.

Fathers & Families is an organization that has been rolling back feminist advances.
They’ve started with the low hanging fruit of easy-to-get legislation.
For instance, they’ve gotten new state laws declaring that men serving in battle overseas cannot have their children taken away from them or unfair child support amounts served on them. Under this cover, politicians scrambled to vote for this.
And that set a precedent for laws that will state the obvious: that it doesn’t matter if a man is serving in combat or not, he needs to be treated fairly by the family courts, etc.
They’ve also really pissed the feminists off by getting shared parenting legislation taken seriously by many states.
Shared parenting says that the man should get the kids 50% of the time, not just every second weekend. It also says the woman can’t take the kids to another state if he doesn’t want them to go. This really, really pisses feminists off. Always a good thing.
And what’s amusing: the shared parenting fight is actually reversing gains the feminists made in the late 19th century while using the feminists’ own rhetoric about “equality”.
This, like the abortion fight, will keep feminist groups occupied so they won’t do more harm elsewhere.
It will also keep the big stupid law firms, who like doing Pro Bono work for women’s groups and then writing that off as a tax exemption, busy so they aren’t crafting new legislation on other topics (I opposed gay marriage because I didn’t want gays to take up the next issue on their plate which was the “right to donate blood without disclosing their sexual activity”).
