The Rebecca Watson saga has been drawn out far past its expiration date already. The encounter itself was at worst a beta loser asking a drunk girl back to his room at 4am for “coffee and conversation.” I know Ferd stated that to try to argue logically with her foolishness only serves to legitimize her, and I agree with him. However, there are several aspects to the story that have not been analyzed:
1. She’s lying. We all know the propensity of women to have drunken consensual hookups with men and then lie about what happened. Overnight, the rationalization hamster goes to work concocting a story of intimidation and rape until the princess wakes up the next morning and believes the only way her innocent self could be naked next to this stranger is rape.
It was Rebecca Watson who hit on the guy in the elevator. He rejected HER. Overnight, her hamster went to work. A drunken hamster is a powerful hamster. The next morning, she either decided to rewrite the encounter to placate her feminist mind and she is outright lying, or she actually believes what she is saying. After 15 Kamikazes, her memory of the night is likely hazy. She probably remembers the elevator and a man with her in the elevator. Her hamster filled in the rest. He should consider himself a lucky man. Had she gone to his room, he could be in jail and accused of rape. She would then be on the feminist lecture circuit with one more stripe pinned to her metaphorical lapelle.
I can think of no reason to trust her version of events.
2. Even if we assume she is not lying, men have more of a right to be angry by this encounter than women. Remember, the guy did NOTHING but ask her for coffee. At the same time, it was a beta move. So, although the standard is very low, and even if the prevalence of men acting like beta elevator man increases the relative value of the men who know what they are doing, it still pains me to read about men acting like this.
5 minutes on this site, Roosh’s, or Roissy’s and this encounter could have been saved at least from his point of view. If he was attending the same event as she was, and for some god-awful reason wanted to sleep with her, he should have approached her there. Instead, he waited until she was going back to her room and the best line he could come up with was to ask whether she wanted “coffee and conversation.” Even though any idiot knows “coffee” at 4am doesn’t mean “coffee,” it was still a stupid and ill-timed line. This is a clear violation of the three second rule and many others.
3. Finally, women are responsible for the hook-up culture and now they have to live with the consequences. The rise of the hook-up culture coincides with the rise of the feminist movement. Sexual freedom blah blah blah. Men have adapted. 50 years ago this beta male would be married with 2 kids and a one car garage. Assuming she is telling the truth (not likely), he is now asking drunken chicks in elevators to go back to his room for coffee. Why did he try it? Obviously he was probably drunk and horny. But the real reason he tried it– he saw guys succeeding by walking up to drunken girls they didn’t know and succeeding – in every bar in every city in every country. His only error was not applying the tenets of Game to the situation. That is it.
Elevator Man needs to come out from the shadows. Get a copy of the surveillance video if she is lying. As an atheist, he presumably believes himself to be a true believer in truth and logic. As an atheist, he likely believes that because there no evidence to justify a belief in the existence in God, the logical conclusion is to not believe in God.
So, I am calling out Elevator Man. Come out from under the rock which you have been hiding. Prove your intellectual consistency. If evidence and logic are your true masters – learn Game. It is time-tested and woman-approved (even if they don’t like to admit it).

Nah, the guy was almost certainly a beta dweeb.
Why? Think about it. If a George Clooney-type hit on her in a similar situation, but with proper game, she would have joined him instead of making up a harassment narrative. While if she hit on Mr. Clooney-clone and got rejected, that would have made her want him even more.

To imagine this from a man’s perspective, it is the equivalent of some hideous morbidly obese 55-year old granny with hairy moles and missing teeth trying to sexually proposition you. Better to rationalize, and make up a cutesy rape story, and gain the sympathy of your women friends and have all of your White Knight orbiters come to your rescue.
I hadn’t even considered the possibility that the whole episode might well be a lie. Guess I’m still slightly beta…. may the bronze age patriarchial Sky Father whom I still defiantly worship, forgive me and purge me of it. After all, He is the Alpha and the Omega in one — the Alpha Lord of Lords, and the Omega who knows how to rise again after getting beaten down.

Indeed, I noticed this too. Assuming the story is true, Rebecca needs to learn to live with the consquences of her philosophy. To wit —
(1) In the absence of religious belief, men have no reason to restrain their sexual impulses. If atheists or skeptics find a girl sexually attractive, they will make a play for her. Why not?
[Indeed, why are atheist conferences mostly male anyway? Could it be that the are just a bunch of horny guys who ditched God because He got in the way of the sex lives they wished to have? Did they go atheist for sound intellectual reasons, or did they simply change their creed to match their (attempted) conduct?]
(2) Her own philosophy gives her no compelling reason to say “no” to such an approach, other than, she just doesn’t want to — and how can a man possibly know that in advance?
(3) How can she complain about being “sexualized” after posing nude for a calendar? Truth is, she has SELF-sexualized her public image.
If the consequences of her philosophy are unpalatable, she needs to find God and spend her social time in conservative religious venues where men, if they approach at all, normally do so for the purpose of marriage-oriented courtship rather than one night stands.

Unfortunately the culture shames men who are not successful with women. She humilitated him to increase her social status- a pretty junior high school move for an adult woman. It would be great if the guy would come forward, and say, “I was polite to her, I don’t understand why she has to be rude to me.” But he’s probably mortified, so it’s very unlikely.
I have staggered into many an elevator in China and Vietnam to find some lone beauty on her way up (or down).
What struck me was that I sensed absolutely no apprehension from them.
And if I ever made a move to speak with them they would rebuff me with charm and humor. As if to say “You are a handsome man and have many girlfriends, but my pussy is not for you.”

He dismisses men’s legitimate fears and always stands up for women’s rights. He seems to love the double standard that a woman who doesn’t want a child can have an abortion and never consider a father’s rights. Exactly. As others smarterer than me have pointed out, historically women were expected to sleep only with their husbands. There was no expectation that a random encounter between a man and a woman in, say, an escalator might lead to sex half an hour later; and so women had no need to be so defensive and so assertive in their refusals.
