Lysistrata in Brussels and why WordPress Multisite is almost as bad as Drupal

by Ferdinand Bardamu on February 11, 2011

in Tribalism

Will S. passed along this amusing story from Belgium, where the pictured lady is proposing a sex boycott to force the Walloons and Flemings to form a government:

A Belgian senator and physician wants her fellow legislators to go on a “sex strike” until the country can break the stalemate that has left it without a government for nine months.

Marleen Temmerman’s “legs closed” campaign started as a joke, she told the Star on Wednesday. Now she can only hope it might work where everything else has failed.

“It sounds funny, but the situation is very serious. We have to get a government. There are people crying in the streets for services.”

Temmerman, a Socialist senator and a gynecologist who has worked extensively in Africa, was inspired by a similar sex strike by Kenyan women in 2009. After a week, Kenya had a new government.

I can sum up my thoughts on this piece thusly – a sex boycott from this homely broad is like getting banned by a store you don’t visit, or an employee announcing “I QUIT!” after getting fired. What man would be desperate enough to put it in THAT? Her husband probably breathed a sigh of relief when she announced her plan to him. They’ll probably save money on paper bags too!

“We have two cultures, but everywhere in the world people are living with different cultures. Look at Canada. You have a government, why can’t we?”

Please. Canada doesn’t have a government because the Anglo-Canadians and Quebecois are such good pals, they have a government because the first past the post system limits the amount of damage the Bloc Quebecois can do. Down with multiculturalism!

By the way, if you’re wondering why some of the thumbnails on the front page are broken, and why some of my posts are full of garbled characters, I installed WordPress Multisite last night and watched as it broke everything in sight. The permalinks are fixed, my custom CSS formatting is working again, and I restored all the HTML sidebar widgets that mysteriously vanished, but the goddamn thumbnails are still busted. The Multisite feature factors into my expansion plans for the blog, so stay tuned for more announcements as soon as I fix all these fucking bugs.

On that same note, I’ve scrapped my plans for a forum based on reader feedback (read: almost all of you hated the idea). Racer X gave the best response in my opinion:

Fuck the forum. You should simply make your pronouncements like some semi-divine philosopher king spreading his pearls of wisdom among the common swine.

Forums are too low class and proletariat for the elite community who gather here. Let’s keep things intellectually aristocratic. Your regular readers and contributors are like the nobility among their king. Let’s keep the rabble out. We humbly petition your most royal highness, Don’t Do It!!!

To be honest, I didn’t want to add a forum at all and was only going to bother if enough people wanted one. Less work for me!

2 J. Durden February 11, 2011 at 10:25 am

Upgrading from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7 in any kind of smooth, safe, sane fashion is literally impossible. I gave up.

Why are there 2 dudes in a loving embrace on the upper left-hand corner of the blog? o_O

How about down with all -isms? These are divisive and usually involve forcing beliefs on others; on people who usually rather be left alone.

And yes, that hag has reached the end of her rope if she thinks reinstating a functional democratic government is being hindered because men are getting laid enough. intellectual vacuum.

A side note on forums: Proboards just dissolved the mgtow (men going their own way, for you uninitiated) forum yesterday. This site had a lot of relevant and interesting articles from the fringe of the MRA movement, but some douche decided it was too offensive.

Typical feminazi/manginism in banning those with whom they disagree, instead of monitoring and regulating the content in a verifiable and fair manner. As I say, the fact they are using these tactics means we have them worried.

That’s one ugly dude with a dress.

As a proud Belgian-American of Flemish decent I have two things to say.

First, I want more Westvleteren beer in my belly immediately. If anyone has a source or hookup let me know.

Second, that bitch is ugly.

No Gods. No Masters. No Symbols. No Justin Beiber. No Belgians.

Isn’t that the mantra?

“Why are there 2 dudes in a loving embrace on the upper left-hand corner of the blog?”

Well, it’s either that or a pic of the world’s largest zit on the back of some guy’s neck. Pick your poison.

She is literally painful to look at.

Bitch is Exhibit A for my theory: dysgenic breeding is the main culprit behind Western decline, and the foundation on which the others rest (feminism, etc.).

Actually, multiculturalism is Canada’s “answer” to the problems we had with the old Anglo-Franco biculturalism. The government is flooding us with minorities and saying how we aren’t English and French anymore, just Canadians. Of course, that is bringing a whole host of new problems with it.

The Quebecois would love to leave Canada, and in past referendums on the subject, close to 50% voted to leave. Many more hate English Canada, but are smart enough to realise that the tax dollar gravy train would stop if they left.

12 Will S. February 11, 2011 at 10:00 pm

@ Dominion of Canada: True, but, bad as that is, it does mean Quebec will never leave Canada; they came as close as they’re ever going to, in 1995, and now, what with their declining birthrate compared to those of the allophone and federalist newcomers, they will never again leave.

Alas, that means we anglos in English Canada no longer have control over our own destiny, either…

13 Will S. February 11, 2011 at 10:02 pm

(Jacques Parizeau was right, notwithstanding all the predictable flack he got, when he said immediately after the 1995 referendum that the will of Quebeckers was thwarted by “l’argent et la vote ethnique”… As is ours, now, too…)

14 Dominion of Canada February 12, 2011 at 12:22 am

Someone would have to be pretty vindictive and short-sighted to destroy both English and French Canada in order to keep the map looking the same (*cough*Trudeau*cough*). The Quebecois basically do what they like anyways. The country is de facto French, and they smoke and abort their babies with abandon, and drink unpasteurized milk. If we reverted to something more like a confederation, where they did what they liked but had to chip in for the military, at least we’d save some tax dollars.

15 Will S. February 13, 2011 at 12:46 am

BTW, I propose a new word; we should call any attempt to impose a Lysistrata strategy, as a ‘Lysistrategy’.

16 VJ February 13, 2011 at 12:59 am

OK I give up, is that a Walloon or a Flem Bot there? And how can we avoid meeting one in the future? And I’m all for multi-culturalism and even the 2 dudes as long as they can keep Marleen T. from our shores. Cheers, ‘VJ’
