As someone who has “gone ghost” (I’ve just come across that phrase in the past few months, I like it even though it’s strange), I think “going your own way” comes with some inherent dangers unless you sincerely walk the walk.
Going ghost truly means that you must internalize and feel a sense of disinterest and be at peace with the emotional/physical isolation from female companionship that comes with your state of “ghostness.” Obviously this is specifically pertinent to the U.S. where the sexual economics dictate that women can easily and unaffectedly write off men who cease to be consumers. This form of dropping out goes under the assumption that the only reason why men work is to increase their standing with women. If this is so, then why do so many lesser betas and omegas have jobs? Truly “going ghost,” that is completely cutting off oneself from society, requires a reduction in standard of living that most Western men, particularly those raised middle class or above households (the tax base of a society) are not willing to tolerate. Already did. Women love fashion, fashion is modeled by models. We’re a little more focused on buying clothes for ourselves than what’s “in” for men.

The only women I personally know getting any kind of assistance at all via the government, taxes, etc., are the ones who married right out of high school and started having lots of kids.
