The special Senate election in Massachusetts, in which a Republican won the seat formerly held by “liberal lion” Ted Kennedy (may he forever burn in hell), was prompted by a law passed in 2004 by the veto-proof majority-possessing Democratic legislature designed to prevent then-Governor Mitt Romney from appointing a Republican if John Kerry had won the presidential race.

OUCH.
