FB,

Thanks for linking my article. You seem to spend many hours surfing the blogosphere.

Bhanu:

You seem to spend many hours surfing the blogosphere.

That is unbelievably easy when you have a do-nothing job.

That is unbelievably easy when you have a do-nothing job.

So your “employer” doesn’t filter or monitor your internet connection? In contrast, at my dad’s “employer”, that kind of stuff would have been discovered during an audit with the employee being disciplined or fired.

Regardless, I’d kill for a (white collar) state job right now even with Tier V…

There are times but none recently where I can surf for hours. No one checks up on me – another benefit to being the big boss. heh

Thanks for the linkage Ferdinand!

Many thanks as always FB! I always find some interesting links to read thanks to your regularly roundup posts. I appreciate the linkage as well. :-)

About surfing blogs, I also struggle with sneaking that in during work hours DA. I work for the man… he keeps me darn busy usually too. So I sometimes end up peek at blogs on my phone, or take formal breaks to do so.

By policy we allowed limited use of company resources for personal matters (I consider my personal forays into “contemporary social and gender relations issues” a community service project in a way, hehe.) And I’m also doing informal research using social media sources, getting up to speed on the latest media platforms, kinda sorta. I think it all depends… employment law is pretty tricky, and litigation for something that’s not clear cut (a blog on PUA vs. straight up erotica) would be cumbersome too probably.

Thanks again for your linkage and keep up your fantastic work!

A red meat post… HBDers and randists may not like the idea.

Alternative View on Money- III
http://dissention.wordpress.com/2009/12/21/alternative-view-on-money-03/

“This post suggests a heretical idea, namely paying people to consume and thereby maintain a functional economy. While the concept sounds like another keynesian idea, it is much more radical. In some ways, it takes off from minksy’s ideas on the government assuming the role of lender and employer of last resort.”

My employer explicitly states that blogging is not allowed on workstations. So I don’t. I do read, however, on my breaks if I’m eating at my desk which I try not to because it just sucks.

Besides, I’ve already been disciplined once for sending emails trashing my then-manager.

And thanks for the linkage. The death edition is something very special.

David Alexander:

So your “employer” doesn’t filter or monitor your internet connection?

Are you kidding? You can do everything short of downloading kiddie porn on a state computer so long as you keep your mouth shut and make like you’re doing work. Anything less and the streets of Albany would run red with the blood of the bosses.

Regardless, I’d kill for a (white collar) state job right now even with Tier V…

Dude, just apply. There are literally countless positions throughout New York. The government is the only employer in America that will hire people for $40,000 a year jobs requiring nothing more than 60 college credit hours.

10 David Alexander December 21, 2009 at 9:15 pm

Are you kidding?

Nope. My dad was an employee in NYC civil service, and they had disciplined and fired workers for playing games online, watching porn, and sending sexist or “racist” e-mails. It seems that NYS employment is employment is a magical candy land compared to NYC employment…

Dude, just apply.

Amazingly, even with an associates degree (68 credits), I don’t qualify for anything since I lack work experience. Everything either requires a bachelor’s degree or several years of related work experience. That’s true of both NYC, NYS, and county positions.

11 Bob Belvedere December 21, 2009 at 9:44 pm

As always: a hearty thanks FB.

Kristen Bell is very hot. Too bad she didn’t get enough acting gigs in the prime of her looks.

You have a job? I remember what that’s like, sorta. It’s been a long unemployment…
