I have a question to pose to you, my unwaveringly loyal readership, concerning my love of linking. Ever since I began blogging half-a-year ago, I’ve been sharing links via Twitter. With the bit.ly bookmarklet for Google Chrome, it doesn’t require any effort to post link-Tweets – I just click a couple of buttons and presto chango, I’ve got a brand new update. Back in September, though, I started doing weekly linkage posts, comprised of the same links I Tweeted during the workweek. Putting them together doesn’t take too much effort, either – I just copy and paste links into a fresh post while I read them, add relevant tags and categories, find a pic of a hot chick, and bingo, I’ve got a huge-ass link post.
Thing is, my linkage posts get way more usage then my link-Tweets. While the latter usually get between 10 – 15 clicks, links on my LIGFY posts can get up to 60 – 100 clicks. I’ve had several bloggers email me in appreciation of the sheer amounts of traffic I send their way. Consequently, I’m considering dropping the link-Tweeting for good and sticking to the LIGFY posts from now on. I’ll keep my Twitter around, but the only thing you’ll see on it is stupid bullshit about what I had for dinner, what movie I’m watching, and why the people I interact with on a day-to-day basis are morons. In other words, it’ll be like every other Twitter out there.
However, some bloggers have benefited from my link-Tweets, so maybe there’s a whole realm of utility they have that I’m not seeing. So I put the question to you: if I am to drop either the link-Tweets or the linkage posts, which one should go?

Ferdinand,
I too appreciate the hits sent my way from your linkage posts. I think you should keep them: remember my comment about you being the great link aggregator? That’s what I was alluding to.
I think you should keep both, but if one has to go I vote for axing the tweets.
Keep all of the above, is my vote (no button option). Including the tweets of what you’re eating for dinner.
The first in a new series of thoughts..

Some of us have no interest in Twitter because we couldn’t care less about people’s dinner contents, but enjoy reading blogs because of the thought put into them. Therefore, my vote, if you have to axe one, is to axe the link-tweets.
Links are still preferable over twitter, though each has it’s demographic base.
Found a lot of interesting stuff via your linage posts. Much appreciated.
(I found your old blog design much more readable).
I tend to benefit from both, Ferdinand. Since it all seems to take the same effort and time, why axe any?
Of course, the logical one to axe is the tweets.
As a blogger who’s very grateful for the traffic for the traffic you’ve sent my way, I’d much prefer that you keep the linkage posts. Plus, who doesn’t like gratuitous pictures of random hot women?
Fuck Twitter. Ham radio of the 21st century.
I’ve seen a significant bump in visits every time you’ve posted, and I’ve been meaning to send you a note to say “thanks”.
I don’t know that I’m getting anything from twitter, I have by blog feed automatically into my own account, but I generally don’t get on it myself. “ShitMyDadSays” and Jim Goad is funny, but I haven’t found any USE in the service.
Anyway, thanks again for the support.
