Berlusconi gets sucker-punched:
Rome — Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi was punched in the face at the end of a rally in Milan today, new reports said.
The attack occurred as the 73-year-old Berlusconi was signing autographs near his car, state TV said.
TV showed the stunned leader with blood under his nose and on his mouth as he was lifted to his feet by aides.
You have to hand it to him – he takes it like a champ.

He looked like a frail old man in that video. I’ve seen something similar happening in my hood but instead of a 70 year old taking the whipping, it’s a 40 year old getting his ass handed to him by a 16-20.
Or they have to make a run for it and the 16 year old’s leave the 40 year old in another area code.
I am not surprised. He was too indiscreet..

i’m in awe of silvio’s alphaness and everything, but it makes me smile to hear that someone decked him (i wouldn’t extend this smile to anything serious like assassination; i’m putting it in context here). i was watching a bernie madoff documentary on Frontline last night and wondered aloud why somebody didn’t come prancing out of the crowd and knock his ass out to wipe the smug look off his face. if the man stole millions from me, i’d stop on his face. actually, i’d do it anyways if he was in my general vicinity.
Silvio cracked two teeth and busted his nose. From a pathetic swiping arm punch. I’m not blaming Silvio – it just shows how fragile old dudes are.
Five hundred years ago Silvio would have had a dagger in each kidney before you could have said “look out he’s got a knife.” But if fist fighting is all this modern age offers, I guess it will have to do.

This news made me smile when I heard it.
It is shameful to punch a 73 year old man. No matter who he is.
Much agreed. Unless it was another ‘senior’; decking a 73 year old is out of line.
Since I was out in the scrub when all this happened I missed all the fanfare. Now that the drama has died down it should be noted that:
1. Chic Noir is off in her own world. Silvio was attacked by a nutcase, not because he was fucking too many women.
2. He has actually gained more support and sympathy from people, including political opponents, because of this.
3. Silvio will spin this to his advantage.
