My blog is an awesome blog

Greetings and welcome to the smarter, cooler, and sexier In Mala Fide! Gazing around at this wondrous new universe I’ve created, you no doubt have many questions about what’s new and what’s not. Here’s a quick rundown of how things are going to be ’round these parts from now on.

First up, I’ve added an Amazon recommended products list consisting of books, movies, music, and video games that rock and you should buy, preferably by clicking on the links so that I get a commission. I’ve also set up a PayPal fundraising account, and while I don’t plan on ever holding this site hostage to donations, if you have a buck or two burning a hole in your pocket and nothing to spend it on, why not send it my way? I guarantee you I’ll put it to semi-good use. Additionally, I’ve placed banner ads at the top and bottom of the page. Depending on how well they perform – or IF they perform – I may end up keeping or removing them. I don’t expect to get rich off this blog, but some pocket change would be nice.

This site is optimized to run on monitors using at least 1024 x 768 resolution. I would have made the blog flexible width if I could, but there aren’t any decent themes available with that option. In any event, the two or three of you still using 800 x 600 or below should upgrade already – it’s the year 2009 for fuck’s sake.

I’ve tested this site on a bunch of different computers, and the only one that had trouble loading it was a nine-year old IBM Celeron literally on its last legs. I also tested the blog on Internet Explorer 8, Firefox 3.5, and Google Chrome, and it works fine on all of them. If you’re using another browser, you’re on your own.

On the old WordPress.com site, pages were organized in separate buttons atop the header. Here, only the About page is at top – the others are on the right sidebar, where they won’t block that lovely sunset image.

Speaking of pages, my email address has changed. Go to the About page to get the new one. I’ve closed down my old Gmail account, so anything you send there will get bounced.

The much beloved outside blogger feeds that gave my old site a “coffeeshop” feel have been removed because the ones there were hardly ever used, according to my stats. You’ll get regular blogroll links and you’ll LIKE IT.

Aside from some minor tweaking I’ll be doing over the next few days, In Mala Fide is pretty much finished and open for business. If you have any problems with the new site – real problems, not “LOL FERD UR SUCH A SELLOUT” – drop me a line.

It looks nicer — good upgrade! It loads slightly more slowly using Safari, but it’s manageable.

Hope you enjoy your new home and thanks for all you do for your fellow bloggers!

Sucks. Loads way too slow.

The slow loading is due to all those pesky little images and calls to Amazon, I imagine – but there are good tools online to check these things out.
