More like Yuppie/SWPL – Black Alliance. Blacks are only 12.5% of the national population, and IIRC even less in NY State. So something is going on there — likely the collapse of middle class people in the State and White Flight, with the replacements being IIRC, Hispanic/Puerto Rican, with a smattering of wealthy Yuppies.

Right on the money. The makeup of the NY State Senate is evidence of this. The Democratic conference is dominated by NYC blacks (including Malcolm Smith), while the Republican conference mostly consists of whites from Upstate and Long Island. When the Democrats won control of the Senate last year, they turned it into a minority patronage scheme:

Why, because they’re non-WASP individuals ? The male rights movement should include ALL men, not just right-wing white men. Btw, Patterson achieved alot to make it as far as he did considering he’s black and blind. George W. Bush and the Republicans are the reason for the current “decline of civilization” – the damage they did in 8 years will take a century to reverse.

Though, being blind and achieving even what he has is surely a valid cause for reverence.

What you really mean is to exchange ‘Bush’ for ‘Obama’, ‘Republicans’ with ‘Democrats’, and ’8 years’ with ’8 months’.

Are you serious? Paterson is governor for no other reason than Spitzer’s sexual indiscretions. He was picked for Lt. Gov. because he was an affable stooge who happened to fulfill the minority requirement. His sole experience prior to Lt. Gov. was being the Senate Minority Leader – which given NY’s “three men in a room” system of governance, is a completely powerless position. He’s done nothing but steer the state into a ditch. Nobody, not even his fellow Democrats, wants him around anymore.
